16th Annual Districtwide Student Art Show

·        Artwork that have been selected to be part of the 16th Annual Districtwide Student Art Show will be on display at the Brentwood Community Center, 35 Oak Street from April 9 to May 3, 2018. 

·        Artwork will be displayed in the front salon, side salon and upstairs salon of the community center and can be viewed during business hours of Monday – Friday from 8:30 to 5pm.

If you would like to provide any input regarding your child for consideration in placement next year, there is a Parent-Student information sheet available for pick up in the school office starting Monday April 9. 

Please note that submission of this form does not guarantee your desired placement.  Completed forms are due to the office by Wednesday, Apr 25, 2018.    Thank you.

THE END OF THE SCHOOL YEAR CAFETERIA REMINDERS.....

·       NO CHARGING Policy Starting May 1st thru June 7th.

·       Please add money to your child's lunch account or bring money daily to purchase meals in the cafeteria.

·       Please clear up any outstanding balances due.

·       No charging allowed- Alternative breakfast & lunch meal will be given: cheese sandwich, milk and fresh fruit/vegetable at no charge. If needed, child can go to the school office to call home to add money. 

·       Is your student moving to another district and have money left on account??  You can get a refund or transfer it to a sibling still enrolled in a BUSD school. Please Complete a “Refund/Transfer/Donate Request Form”

CAASPP testing is coming up!

From April 26 to May 18, students in grades 3 - 8 will participate in the CAASPP (California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress).  CASSPP consists of the following:

  • CAST (California Science Tests) which will be given to students in grades 5 and 8 and
  • SBAC (Smarter Balanced Assessments) which will be given to students in grades 3 through 8 in English language arts/literacy (ELA) and Mathematics. 
  • Students who have the most significant cognitive disabilities, as designated in their active individualized education program, are eligible to take the California Alternative Assessments (CAAs).

The State of California requires that 95% or greater of our students participate in the state tests. More information on CAASPP can be found at http://www.smarterbalanced.org/parents/

OPEN ENROLLMENT PERIOD 2

MARCH 2, 2018 THROUGH MAY 1, 2018

 

The second open enrollment period allows for Intradistrict Transfer Applications from March 2 through May 1, 2018.  The second period allows consideration of Intradistrict Transfers for families who have had a change in circumstances, or may have forgotten to apply.

Applicants who submit an Intradistrict Transfer request no later than 4:00 p.m., Monday, May 1, 2018 will be notified on June 1, 2018.  Forms are available at all school sites, and at the District Office.  Intradistrict Transfer Forms MUST be returned to any school office, or the District Office, no later than 4:00 p.m., Monday, May 1, 2018 to be considered by the June 1ST notification date.

PLEASE NOTE:

For 2018-2019, all schools will be open for intradistrict transfer requests.  All requests will be evaluated for approval based on capacity.

In accordance with board policy, intradistrict transfer requests on behalf of students who have been previously displaced from a closed school site will be considered on a priority basis.

Attendance

Please call the attendance line every time your student is absent at 513-6361. Please include student's name, your name, teacher's name, dates and reason for absence.  Thank you!

When you plan to be absent for 5 or more days:

Site-Based Independent Study - When a student will be absent for 5 or more days, an application (see SBIS forms under Helpful Forms) for Site-Based Independent Study may be filled-out and submitted to the front office no less than five days prior to the planned absence. Once approved, the student's teacher will prepare assignments to be completed during the absence. The assignments are due back to the teacher on the first day back to school after the planned absence. The student will receive full academic and attendance credit for all work completed.
