School Happenings!!

Hi Everyone!  Thank you for having promoted and participated in the Street Smarts sponsored Walk to School Day! It was a great success!  We had 47% of the school participate.

And congratulations to Ms. Gerdes and her class for having the highest percentage of students to walk and/or roll to school!


The best attendance award for August 2017 for TK through 3rd goes to: Jennifer Sanchez’s 2nd Grade class, with 99.10% attendance.

The best attendance award for August 2017 fro 4th through 5th goes to: Rebecca St. Michel’s 4th Grade class, with 98.28% attendance.

2016 Brentwood Regional Community Chest Canned Food and Toy Drive

Event: More than 500 families from Brentwood, Byron, Discovery Bay, Knightsen and Bethel Island are presented with food (including a full holiday dinner) and age- appropriate presents for their children. This program is largely dependent on the generosity and support of individuals, families and businesses in our community.

Dates: Friday, December 16th, 2016, 4:00 to 9:00 P.M.

Saturday, December 17th, 2016, 7:30 A.M. to 1:00 P.M.
Distribution event at Brentwood Elementary, 200 Griffith Lane, Brentwood

Volunteer: Volunteers are needed and welcome for both the packing on Friday and the distribution on Saturday morning. Volunteers are needed throughout both days. Anything from volunteering the entire two days to a part of one day is welcome and appreciated. Families, clubs and teams often participate as a group. Board members are available to validate volunteer hours for students. Parents may bring children to help as long as they are supervised. It is not necessary to sign-up prior to volunteering.
Donate: Starting the second week of November, barrels and bins will be located throughout East County for donations of non-perishable food and new toys. Barrels are located at local banks, post offices, local businesses, Brentwood, Byron and Knightsen elementary and middle schools, as well as many other locations. All donations to the Community Chest stay in East County. Tax ID #94-73204667

Collect: Barrels are available for businesses. Please contact Jeff Schults at 925-890-8296 to see if a barrel can be set-up at your location. Barrels are delivered during the second week of November and collected prior to the packing event. Arrangements can be made to empty overflowing barrels in the interim.

Families (Sign-Up): Families in need can apply to participate at one of the scheduled sign-up events listed below. There are a limited number of participants and families are encouraged to sign-up early. All spaces may fill up prior to all sign-up events being held. Applicants need to show proof of identity and residence; (Driver's License or ID card and utility bill, PG & E, Phone, water or garbage, etc.)

Please call the attendance line every time your student is absent at 513-6361. Please include student's name, your name, teacher's name, dates and reason for absence.  Thank you!

When you plan to be absent for 5 or more days:

Site-Based Independent Study - When a student will be absent for 5 or more days, an application (see SBIS forms under Helpful Forms) for Site-Based Independent Study may be filled-out and submitted to the front office no less than five days prior to the planned absence. Once approved, the student's teacher will prepare assignments to be completed during the absence. The assignments are due back to the teacher on the first day back to school after the planned absence. The student will receive full academic and attendance credit for all work completed.

We are filling up the pages with wonderful memories already. The deadline for personalization is January 31. Personalization and icons are available for purchase with your yearbook.

You can make checks payable to Brentwood School Parents Club (BSPC), fill out a form and return it to the main office.

The yearbook is available now through December 16 at the Fall Offer Price of $35.
