Brentwood Elementary School is celebrating Walk to School Day on October 19, 2016

Brentwood Elementary School is celebrating Walk/Roll to School Day on October 19, 2016

WHY should your students WALK/Roll TO SCHOOL?

  • Build physical fitness. Help your child create healthy, active habits that will last a lifetime.
  • Reduce traffic to increase safety. Many parents report that the #1 reason for driving their children to school is to keep them from crossing busy intersections, clogged with dangerous traffic.

But think about it… More Kids Walking = Fewer Cars Driving = Less Traffic = Safer Intersections

  • Improve grades. Burning energy before school gets students focused for learning.
  • Save money. Fill your wallet, not your gas tank.
  • Be pollution free.
  • Build a better community! Walk your neighborhood, meet new families, make friends and walk together. Members of tight communities care about the safety and security of each other.

Please remind your student to walk safely: use crosswalks; stop, look, & listen before crossing; and walk with a buddy. Parents are reminded to drive safely and with patience in the 25MPH school zone.

Odyssey of the Mind Coaches Needed!

We are looking for adults who might be interested in learning more about coaching in the Odyssey of the Mind program. The Odyssey of the Mind program teaches students to learn creative problem-solving methods while having fun in the process. Coaches meet with their team once or twice a week between October and February up until the day of competition on March 4, 2017 at Adams Middle School.

The Odyssey of the Mind Program relies on volunteers as coaches.  We will be holding a meeting with an experienced OM coach who will give details about the program and how to best organize and coach a team. If you would be interested in learning more about coaching a team, please contact Mrs. Peltz at 513-6360 ext. 2432 or e-mail at kpeltz@brentwood.k12.ca.us.
