Attendance

Please call the attendance line every time your student is absent at 513-6361. Please include student's name, your name, teacher's name, dates and reason for absence.  Thank you!

When you plan to be absent for 5 or more days:

Site-Based Independent Study - When a student will be absent for 5 or more days, an application (see SBIS forms under Helpful Forms) for Site-Based Independent Study may be filled-out and submitted to the front office no less than five days prior to the planned absence. Once approved, the student's teacher will prepare assignments to be completed during the absence. The assignments are due back to the teacher on the first day back to school after the planned absence. The student will receive full academic and attendance credit for all work completed.

AN IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM YOUR PARENT’S CLUB!

Hi Parents! We hope that 2017 has been great for you so far! It has brought on some changes for us that we are working through and are excited to get YOUR HELP!

Our VP had a sudden relocation to the Redding area and we wish her and her family the very best! Sara Bouchard, our Fundraiser Co-Chair, was unanimously voted in as VP and will be your President next year! She has made a huge contribution towards our fundraising goals and has shown nothing but teamwork and drive for our school.

Here’s where YOU come in! The fundraising has been scheduled, and we would love someone to shadow her, and Chairperson Becky Sprague, during the rest of the year’s events and jump in as a co-chairperson for fundraising next year. We have a number of other positions that will be opening as most of the current board only have 4th and 5th graders left at our school. To show you what you could be a part of, here is some of the great things we’ve been working on since 2015.

Electronic Marquee – Will be installed Spring 2017

Misc. Items: Speaker Monitor for MPR, clipboards for classes, teacher carry caddies, 5th Grade T-Shirts, Winterfest, Movie Nights, Harry Potter Night, Back-to-School Social, Multi-Cultural Night, Product Fundraisers, After-school activities, Book Fairs

Upcoming: 2 Product Fundraisers, Talent Show, 2 Week Fun-Run Spectacular, Book Fair, Carnival, Teacher Appreciation Week, Spring Bazaar. We are currently working toward a TECHNOLOGY TUNEUP! More chromebooks for all of our classrooms!

Start slow and help decorate, or jump in and see what we’re about. Not only are you helping your children enjoy what their school has to offer, you’ll make some great “grown-up” friends, too.

Our meetings our held the 1st Monday of the month at 7pm in room 27. For next school year, we will need a Vice President, a Co-Chair Fundraising (we don’t work alone), a Volunteer Coordinator, and a Publicity Chairperson! Moms, Dads, Grandparents…anyone and everyone is welcome!

If you are interested in taking a peek or jumping in head first, we’ll support you. We love fresh ideas and resources; the sky is the limit! Please call me direct or stop by our table Friday night at movie night.

OPEN ENROLLMENT PERIOD 1

JANUARY 11, 2017 THROUGH MARCH 1, 2017

 

Students who reside within district boundaries may apply for enrollment in any school in the district.  Applications for Intradistrict Transfer will be accepted during the period of January 11, 2017 through March 1, 2017 for the next school year, or for students entering the district after March 1st, within 5 days of enrollment.  If you wish to return to the school from which you were displaced, or if you wish to attend another school for any reason, you must submit an Intradistrict Transfer request.

Applicants who submit an Intradistrict Transfer request no later than 4:00 p.m., March 1, 2017 will be notified on April 1, 2017.  Forms are available at all school sites and at the District Office beginning on January 11, 2017.  Intradistrict Transfer Forms MUST be returned to any school office, or the District Office, no later than 4:00 p.m., March 1, 2017 to be considered by the April 1st notification date.

Intradistrict Transfer requests on behalf of students who have been displaced from the closed schools will be considered.

If space becomes available, Intradistrict Transfers for siblings of students enrolled at these schools for the 2017-2018 school year will be considered.

TRANSITIONAL KINDER AND KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION 2017-2018

Appointments for TK & Kindergarten Registration will be made by calling your designated area school beginning February 15, 2017BRENTWOOD SCHOOL 513-6360, GARIN SCHOOL 513-6370, RON NUNN SCHOOL 513-6380, LOMA VISTA SCHOOL 513-6390, KREY SCHOOL 513-6400, PIONEER SCHOOL 513-6410,  MARSH CREEK SCHOOL 513-6420 and MARY CASEY BLACK SCHOOL 513-6430.  Appointments will be held on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, March 7, 8 & 9, 2017. 

 

  • NEW CDE KINDER AGE REQUIREMENTS:  Your child must be five years old on or before September 1, 2017.  Students with birthdays between September 2 and December 2, 2017 will be enrolled in Transitional Kindergarten.  All transitional kinders and kindergarteners must have a complete and up-to-date immunization record. 
  • IMMUNIZATION REQUIREMENTS FOR 2017-2018 TK & KINDERGARTEN STUDENTS:  Polio: Four (4) doses of polio vaccine regardless of age when the last dose was given, or (2) s/he received 3 doses of polio with at least one dose after the fourth birthday.  If the 3rd dose was before the 4th birthday then a fourth dose is needed.   DTP: A child will be fully immunized against diphtheria, tetanus and pertussis with 5 doses of DTP (DT or DtaP) vaccine regardless of age when the last dose was given or (2) s/he received 4 doses of DTP (DT or DtaP) with at least one dose after the fourth birthday.  If the 4th dose was before the 4th birthday then a fifth dose is needed.  MMR: Two (2) doses of measles containing vaccine received on or after the first birthday and given at least 1-3 months apart.  One of these doses must be MMR vaccine.  HEP B: Three (3) doses of Hepatitis B vaccine.  Varicella:  One (1) dose of varicella (chickenpox) vaccine or proof from a doctor that the student has had chickenpox disease.  Please bring: 1) Proof of birth: birth certificate (certified copy), passport or baptismal certificate, 2) Complete immunization records as described above, and  3)  Proof of residency.  A physical examination is requested for kindergarten and is required before the start of first grade.  An oral examination is requested for kindergarten as well, and is required by May 31 of the kindergarten year.

 

PROOF OF RESIDENCY REQUIREMENTS:  Picture ID, AND 2 of the following original documents with parent/guardian’s name and current address (ONE FROM EACH SECTION BELOW): 

Note:  Proof of residency is required for all new students; even those with siblings already attending BUSD.

  • Property tax bill indicating homeowner’s exemption; rental/lease agreement with parent/guardian’s name, student’s name and address, as well as manager or owner’s name and phone number; For new homeowners, close of escrow documents may be provided as evidence of residency.  However, within 30 calendar days of registration with the district, one additional document listed below must be provided for continued enrollment.
  • Valid vehicle registration; payroll stubs/checks; State or Federal Tax Return filed within the past 12 months with W-2 forms attached; other forms of communication from a government agency.
